Details on the 20% Match

  • Only currently active BottleDrop Give Blue Bag fundraisers are eligible to register for our 2023 Earth Week Give campaign.
  • To participate, fundraisers must register by 4pm on April 10, 2023. Please note – you only have to register once to be included in both the match and contest.
  • Only funds raised through Blue Bags and/or online donations from BottleDrop Green Bag accounts during the specified time (April 10 – 22) are eligible for the 20% match, not funds previously raised and held in BottleDrop Give accounts prior to April 10, 2023.
  • A maximum of $2,000 per fundraiser is eligible for the 20% match (for a maximum match amount of $400 per fundraiser).
  • BottleDrop will contribute a maximum of $35,000 in matching funds. Bags and donations will be matched at 20% on a first-come, first-served basis, by the date and time the online donation was received or Blue Bag was processed until April 22 or when overall cap is met, whichever occurs first.
  • Normal bag limits still apply. Nonprofits may return a total of 15 Blue Bags per day without an appointment. If you have multiple supporters returning bags, please coordinate with them to ensure you don’t exceed the total daily limit of 15 bags.
  • Fundraisers may return up to 50 Blue Bags per day by scheduling an appointment at a full-service BottleDrop Redemption Center.
  • Fundraisers may schedule up to 2 appointments (1 per week) during the match period. Appointments are available Monday – Saturday, between 9am – 2pm.
  • Appointments can be made by emailing fundraisers@bottledrop.com. In your email, please state your nonprofit’s name, your preferred full-service BottleDrop Redemption Center location, and your preferred date and time.
  • Appointments are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All appointments must be scheduled by 4pm on the Friday prior to the appointment.
  • Funds raised during match period, up to an individual cap of $2,000 per Fundraiser, will receive a 20% match, for a maximum of $400 in matching funds from BottleDrop per Fundraiser.
  • Fundraisers and their supporters must follow all BottleDrop Give Terms & Conditions or matching for that fundraiser may be void. Please be sure to familiarize yourself and your supporters with these.
  • Matched funds will be added to BottleDrop Give accounts by May 12.

How did we come up with the match cap?

We calculated how many bags could be dropped during the 13-day match period and then compared it with data from our 2022 Earth Week Give campaign. Our reasoning is listed below:

  • Estimated Amount Raised from Blue Bags
    • The maximum number of bags allowed to be dropped during the match period is 265 bags with 2 pre-scheduled appointments.
      • 15 bags allowed per day x 11 days = 165 bags
      • 50 bags allowed per appointment day x 2 days = 100 bags
    • The average value of a Blue Bag dropped during Earth Week Give 2022 was $6.94.
      • 265 Blue Bags x $6.94 = $1,839.10
  • Estimated Amount Raised from Online Donations
    • The average online donation made during Earth Week Give 2022 was $48.47.
    • Fundraisers are not limited to the number of online donations they may receive from Green Bag accounts during the match period, but they are included in the individual Fundraiser cap.
  • Formula Totals
    • $1,839 from Blue Bags + $48 from online donations = $1,887 total raised
    • We rounded this up to $2,000, in case your bag values and online donations are above average.
    • $2,000 raised x 20% match = potential $400 in matching funds from BottleDrop Give

BottleDrop Give Redemption Story Contest

Every BottleDrop Give nonprofit has a redemption story – and we want to hear yours!

We work with over 5,000 nonprofits in Oregon who help support their work by redeeming and recycling bottles and cans. Each nonprofit has a unique story, but the things that ties everyone together is fundraising with BottleDrop Give – one dime at a time.

To enter our BottleDrop Give Redemption Story contest, share how your nonprofit has been able to further your impact by redeeming and recycling bottles and cans. What projects or programs have you been able to fund? What are you fundraising for now? What has been most surprising about fundraising with BottleDrop? How can people donate their containers to you?

We encourage you to be creative and have fun! Be sure to also submit photos and/or videos that help illustrate your fundraising efforts and impact.

We’ll select 5 lucky winners to each win a $1,000 prize. During Earth Week (April 17 – 21), we’ll share one winning nonprofit’s redemption story each day on our social media.
