Emergency Food Assistance Need

The State of Oregon estimates that more than 750,000 Oregonians are enrolled in the government-run Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — more commonly known as SNAP. More than half are children, seniors or people with disabilities. Although the federal government has reopened and reinstated SNAP benefits for now, food insecurity continues to impact many Oregon families and that reality is often heightened during the holiday season. The demand for support from food banks across the state skyrocketed during early November and many of those organizations are now scrambling to replenish their resources heading into their busiest time of the year.

To help address the supply shortage for Oregonians in need, OBRC and BottleDrop are supporting local food pantries and food distribution nonprofits across the state. With OBRC’s Emergency Fund match, through December 31st, BottleDrop customers can double the impact of their donations to support frontline organizations that are helping the growing number of people in need of emergency food assistance.

Donate Through BottleDrop

To kick off the campaign, OBRC donated $30,000 from its Emergency Fund to 12 nonprofit organizations providing food assistance to Oregonians.

OBRC invites our BottleDrop community to join us in supporting food aid through container donations or direct contributions via your BottleDrop account. OBRC’s Emergency Fund will also match up to $35,000 in donations made via BottleDrop’s Emergency Fund through December 31 to support organizations providing vital food assistance to people in need.

Donations received through OBRC’s Emergency Fund will support the following nonprofit organizations:

  • Eastern Oregon Mission – Agape House
  • FOOD for Lane County
  • Food Share of Lincoln County
  • Josephine County Food Bank
  • Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank
  • Marion Polk Food Share
  • NeighborImpact
  • Oregon Food Bank
  • Rogue Food Unites
  • Sunshine Division
  • The Breadbasket Emergency Food Center
  • The Giving Plate
