Set Up Automatic Contributions

How do I connect an Oregon ABLE Savings Plan account with a BottleDrop account to make automatic contributions?

  1. Log in to your BottleDrop account.
  2. From your BottleDrop account dashboard, click “Oregon College Savings Plan” on the left side of your screen (desktop) or below Quarterly Bag Limits (mobile).
    • Note: You will go through the process as if you are connecting an Oregon College Savings Plan account, but you will input your Oregon ABLE account number in Step 5.
  3. Select “Connect and Manage Accounts.”
  4. Click “Add New Recipient.”
  5. Enter your ABLE account details, including the account number (10–11 digits) and save your changes.
    • Note: To find your account number, log in to your Oregon ABLE account, click on the beneficiary (if you have more than one), go to “Settings” in the upper right, select “Account Information,” then click *show* next to “Account Number.”

Keep in mind, you can connect more than one BottleDrop account to an Oregon ABLE account, so many friends and family can regularly donate their can and bottle deposits to your savings.

If you wish to do a one-time transfer of a different amount, you can do so by selecting the “Transfer” button next to “One Time Transfer,” after you have connected your accounts.

Yes. You must have a BottleDrop account in order to transfer your bottle and can refunds to an Oregon ABLE Savings Plan account.

Note: Dropping off your tagged Green Bags is the simplest option to initiate a transfer to an Oregon ABLE account. Another option is to deposit your containers using a self-serve return machine, then take the voucher to a kiosk and put your returns into a BottleDrop account.

After you have connected your BottleDrop account to an Oregon ABLE account, you can create automatic recurring transfers. You will go through the process as if you are setting up transfers for an Oregon College Savings Plan account. First, log in to your BottleDrop account, then click on “College Savings,” and, finally, select “Set up recurring transfers.”

Note: there is a minimum $5 transfer, and your BottleDrop account must have sufficient funds for transfers to be processed.

It’s simple. BottleDrop has partnered with the state of Oregon to offer a secure connection to Oregon ABLE Savings Plan accounts. When you initiate a transfer from your BottleDrop account (manual or automatic), we securely transfer the funds to your designated Oregon ABLE account. The minimum transfer is $5, and a recurring transfer will not be initiated if your BottleDrop account does not have sufficient funds.

On the 26th of each month, BottleDrop will initiate all transfers from the 26th of the previous month, and funds will be withdrawn from your BottleDrop account for recurring transfers. Allow approximately four weeks for the funds to appear in your Oregon ABLE Saving Plan account.

No. The partnership is only active between BottleDrop and the Oregon ABLE Savings Plan.
