Beyond Backpacks

Beyond Backpacks is an annual event that was established in 2004.  The organization helps children in Yamhill County from high needs families in grades K-12 receive new backpacks, "chalked" full of school supplies. Children who attend the event get to pick out their own brand new backpack and receive school supplies appropriate to their grade level. Other supplies needed for their families are also available that day. Refreshments are served and the children are encouraged to visit and play while their parents are able to learn more about community services available to them.  Beyond Backpacks is a totally donation-led organization and is a coordinated effort supported by many churches, service organizations, businesses and individuals throughout Yamhill County.  Each year we have over 900 children referred to us, the need in our county is great. Beyond Backpacks goal is to have all children start the school year off with a backpack full of school supplies.
