The Western Environmental Law Center uses the power of the law to foster thriving, resilient western lands, waters, wildlife, and communities in the face of a changing climate. We envision a thriving West, abundant with protected and interconnected ecosystems, powered by renewable energy, and cared for by communities brought together in an ecology of kinship. WELC works close to the ground, with offices in Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Montana, and Colorado. As a public interest law firm, WELC does not charge clients and partners for services, but relies instead on charitable gifts from individuals, families, and foundations to accomplish our mission. We are a group of volunteer Master Recyclers and environmentalists on the west side of the Portland Metro region. Master Recyclers are trained on recycling and ways to reduce our impact on the environment. We volunteer our time to share our knowledge with our community.
Our mission is to inspire our community to live a more sustainable lifestyle on planet Earth.
We coordinate the twice-yearly PlanetCon event in Washington County, Oregon. We also promote sustainable living at farmers' markets and other events in our local community.
