Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics and Ecology (FUSEE) does public education and policy advocacy promoting safe, ethical, ecological wildland fire management. FUSEE educates and advocates for the use of safe and sound ecological fire management practices that protect rural communities, promote ecosystem resilience, preserve biological and landscape diversity, revitalize cultural burning traditions, and mitigate the impacts of climate change. We envision empowered local communities with an ecological fire management workforce using fire to maintain healthy forest, shrubland, and grassland ecosystems and coexist with fire-adapted landscapes. We envision collaborative partnerships, inclusive community engagement, and science-based decision-making to achieve long-term sustainability and resilience in fire-prone natural and built environments.
