The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership works in communities along the lower Columbia River, from Bonneville Dam to the Pacific Ocean. We restore habitat to benefit salmon, lamprey, and other wildlife; we monitor habitat and conduct research to advance restoration and climate resilience; we lead stormwater retrofit projects in partnership with schools and small communities to improve water quality; we lead hands-on environmental science programs with thousands of school kids each year; we engage volunteers with hands-on stewardship of local streams through tree plantings and other activities; and we get folks out on the water, most for the first time, in our two 12-passenger Big Canoes. Our mission is “to restore and care for the waters and ecosystems of the lower Columbia River, for current and future generations of fish, wildlife, and people.”
McKenzie River Trust helps people protect and care for the lands and rivers they cherish in western Oregon.
Protecting special lands. The McKenzie River Trust acquires property interests in land with clear public benefits to ensure that those values will be available to people for many generations.
Restoring natural systems. The Trust works to enhance and reestablish the native vegetation, water cycles and other functional ecosystem elements appropriate to the places we protect.
Connecting people to places they care about. The Trust provides site tours, education events, demonstration and research sites, and information about the projects it manages to encourage public support for conservation efforts throughout the region.
