A small museum just ten years old whose mission statement says "The International Police Museum’s purpose is to: collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret police culture, history, and heritage of police departments, for the public; to foster mutual appreciation, understanding, and respect between police and the public they serve by way of education and demystification of law enforcement through presentations and displays of loaned and owned uniforms, equipment, and ephemera as outlined in the bylaws of the International Police Museum." IPM is located in Rockaway Beach, OR. We recently secured a long-term lease, increasing our footprint by a factor of 10. We welcome everybody, and especially love the families who come to see us. We have uniforms to try on, see how telephones from a no-cell phone era worked, and get behind our jail bars for photos. We have international uniforms displayed from - among others - Japan, China, France, Germany, Russia, and Spain. We often rotate exhibits so return visitors always find something new. Teachers bring students, and they and home-schooled students (as well as Moms and Dads) learn about the history of policing - including advancements in such areas as communications and fingerprinting. Generally open 10-4, but often open earlier and later in good weather. we close the last week of December through the end of February to accommodate the low tourism season and weather. For more particulars, call the museum at 503-457-6056, or our museum manager Jane at 503-457-5018. We welcome donations, but continue to maintain our free admission policy. We also accept donations of your law enforcement memorabilia. www.InternationalPoliceMuseum.com - /www.facebook.com/IPMRockaway,
