Creekside Community HS – CommuniCare

The communicare team at Creekside Community High School is concerned about the limited availability of mental health resources available to adolescents and young adults in the Portland Metro area, primarily people part of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. This issue is important to us because it has not only impacted students on this team, it is also something that is connected to many other challenges people face in their day-to-day lives, and yet lack the support for the changes they need. We would like to support organizations who are focusing on minorities and working to provide mental health services in order to serve more people and to help lessen the stigma of mental health challenges, as well as organizations using effective methods to improve mental health and help young people process trauma they may have experience in a healthy way. we're a group of students at creekside community highschool in tigard. we are acting as grant makers for non-profit organizations providing mental health services.

David’s Harp

David’s Harp is an independent nonprofit serving low- and no-income adults who have a severe and persistent mental illness. David’s Harp was founded in 1978 through the grassroots efforts of over 100 volunteers and mental health professionals, making it the first (and oldest) operation of its kind in Multnomah County. We are small, but mighty. We do a lot with a little, making every dollar count. We have no administrative staff and minimal overhead. David’s Harp provides a daytime clubhouse setting where adults with major and persistent mental illness are provided with socialization and skill-building activities such as art and music therapy, occupational therapy, gardening, cultural events, and daily community outings. David’s Harp services reduce re-hospitalization, recidivism, and chronic homelessness among the mentally ill. David’s Harp serves about 100 adult clients each year, providing 17,380 hours of programming annually. Most of the healthy world has a wealth of support to access: friends, family, hobbies, employment, peers, and social gatherings. David’s Harp aims to provide what everyone needs, and what our clients unfortunately live without, which is acceptance, friendships, and meaningful engagement. Thank you for considering a donation to David's Harp!
